Students from the Material Science, Engineering Principles, and AP Physics classes recently attended the Engineering and Science Hall of Fame Induction Student Lectures. At the event, students listened to several speakers including 2014 Nobel Prize Laureate Shuji Nakamura (inventor of the Blue Light LED) and Lt. Col. Ed Yielding (Air Force pilot who set a coast-to-coast speed record traveling across the continental United States in under 68 minutes).
Following the lectures, students had the opportunity to speak with the presenters. Students also learned about pursuing careers in S.T.E.M. fields as well as the importance of perseverance and applying for opportunities.
Thank you, Miss Powell and Mr. Trassare for using this as an opportunity to embed the curriculum into contexts and topics that are interesting to your students. #FeelingValued
