Dear Bear Families,
It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Bear Elementary teacher Lisa Carnegis. Mrs. Carnegis passed away this morning after a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Carnegis was a devoted educator and member of the Miamisburg City Schools community, serving our district for over 30 years. She began her career in 1989 as a guest teacher for students with disabilities at Bishop Leibold and joined the MCS staff as a third grade tutor in 1990. Throughout her career at MCS, she taught as a tutor, intervention specialist, remediation teacher and classroom teacher at Mound, Bauer, Medlar View and, most recently, Bear Elementary Schools.
Mrs. Carnegis' husband expressed her ongoing love for teaching and how grateful she was to teach through the end of last school year. Her dedication and passion for learning have been felt by all of us, and most especially, her students. Recently, during her care, a nurse shared a personal story of Lisa’s impact on her son, whom she helped guide through a difficult time while he attended Medlar View.
We would like to express our deepest condolences to her family and all who were inspired by her passion for education. Please know that our school counselors, teachers and staff members are here to support you and your students during this difficult time. If you or your child need additional assistance, do not hesitate to contact us.
We will share additional information regarding funeral arrangements when they become available.
