The Miamisburg City School District Board of Education announces that Superintendent Dr. Laura Blessing will be transitioning from her role to become the Chief Talent Officer for the Mason City Schools. The Mason City School District Board of Education approved her appointment at their meeting on Tuesday, January 28, 2025.
Superintendent Blessing has led Miamisburg with dedication and vision since 2020, guiding the district through unprecedented challenges and transformative moments. During her tenure, the school district has navigated a global pandemic, prioritized student achievement, and fostered a culture of growth, resilience, and kindness.
Reflecting on her time in Miamisburg City Schools, Dr. Blessing said, “This district, this community, and all of you have left an indelible mark on me. I will forever cherish the memories we’ve created and the resilience we’ve shown together. While this decision to leave was not easy, I am excited to begin this new chapter where I can focus on supporting educators and staff while continuing to make a positive impact on the lives of students.”
The transition marks a new professional chapter for Dr. Blessing, who will bring her extensive experience and personal passion for education to her role at Mason City Schools. “This opportunity allows me to combine my career journey with my life experiences,” she shared. “It’s a chance to focus on helping others grow and thrive in their roles, which is deeply meaningful to me.”
Miamisburg City Schools Board of Education President Corey Dafler expressed gratitude for Dr. Blessing’s service. “Under Laura’s leadership, we have made great strides as a district. Her hard work, dedication, and commitment to our students, staff, and community have been truly invaluable,” said Dafler. “We are grateful for everything she has done, especially with all she has accomplished while balancing many responsibilities. We wish her nothing but success in her new role.”
The Miamisburg Board of Education is committed to ensuring a smooth transition. In the coming weeks, they will discuss and identify the plan for selecting the next superintendent. Superintendent Blessing will remain in her role until a plan is developed.
“Miamisburg is more than a district—it is a home filled with remarkable people who care deeply about the success of every student,” Blessing added. “I will miss Miamisburg deeply, but I will always cheer for its continued success and celebrate its future achievements.”
