Miamisburg Vikings One-to-One
Miamisburg City Schools operates a one-to-one program with student Chromebooks. The mission of the Vikings One-to-One program is to provide staff and students access to technology in order to expand learning beyond our classroom walls while empowering them for a technology-driven world. Technology provides opportunities for students to explore, innovate, collaborate, and create to enhance their learning and prepare them for the future.
Students in grades 6-8 will pay a $25 technology fee annually for the use of a district Chromebook. Students will be assigned a Chromebook and will take it to and from school daily. The fee goes towards the cost of repairs and possible replacements due to normal wear and tear, as well as accidental damage. Students in grades 6-7 will maintain use of their device during the summer. Students in Grade 8 will return the Chromebook at the end of the school year for maintenance.
Students in grades 9-12 will pay a $50 annual technology fee annually for the use of a new district Chromebook. After making four payments for a total of $200.00, ownership of the Chromebook transfers to the family.
Students in grades 6-12 may choose to bring their own approved device instead of utilizing a school issued Chromebook. This device must meet general device requirements. Smartphones and tablets are not considered approved devices as some instructional resources may not be effective or accessible on these devices. It is recommended that a Chromebook has at least 4GB of memory and at least 32GB of local storage. It is important to verify with the manufacturer that the model being purchased will be supported by Google's Auto Update Expiration policy for at least five years of more.
Students in grades K-5 will be assigned a Chromebook in their school building for daily use in the classroom. If a student will be absent from the classroom for an extended period of time, he/she may coordinate with the building to borrow a school-owned device.
