The Miamisburg City School District August Student of the Month is Ava Lotspaih. Ava is a fifth grade student at Medlar View Elementary School and was nominated by several staff members, including Mrs. Specht, Mrs. Derr, Mrs. Feix, Mrs. Moody, Mrs. Aucoin and Mrs. McCombe. Ava was nominated because she best exemplified the Medlar View "Positive Behavioral Intervention & Supports" (PBIS) expectation "STAR".
They wrote "S is for finding Safe Solutions. When Ava recognized that the bulletin board and signs in the lunchroom were getting faded, she suggested we freshen them up so everyone would notice them again. The bulletin board contains important information that needed to be highlighted. Ava also helped Mrs. Woods by walking new Kindergarten students from the car rider drop-off to the building. She is a member of the Safety Patrol this year.
T is for treating others with respect. Mrs. Feix says "Ava is a hard worker, polite & kind. She is a pleasure to have in class. " Several adults mentioned that she is always respectful to adults and her peers. Ava always has a smile on her face and a welcoming attitude.
A is for working to the best of our ability. Mrs. Aucoin says Ava is very responsible and always turns in her work. She ALWAYS tries her best and asks questions when needed in Math class! Even when she did not understand something she never gave up!
R is for being a responsible role model. Ava was a great role model when she helped out at the New Family and Kindergarten orientation before school began this year. She was available to give a building tour and answer any questions. Mrs. Moody says "Ava is a great role model in Physical Education. She always plays by the rules and brings her best to class each time. Ava is a hard worker and helpful to myself and other students."
Mrs. McCombe says, "Ava Lotspaih exemplifies ALL of our STAR Musketeer traits. She is always kind, helpful and respectful in the classroom. Any time I needed someone to run an errand, help another child, or even lead a class activity, she could easily take on any task. Any time she was my STAR student of the day, and was in charge of leading the corrections of our morning work, it was as though another teacher had stepped into the room. She always put 110% into her classwork, and even when challenged by her work, never failed to persevere. She was a responsible role model in the classroom, and always worked hard, completed her homework on time, and, even when out sick for an extended period of time, worked tirelessly to get caught up at home so that she would not fall behind. I enjoyed watching Ava gain confidence and come out of her shell, and she and her friends wrote and performed some AWESOME plays last year for our class. Ava is truly a STAR Musketeer.
Ava has helped Mrs. Specht in the library every morning since she was in 1st grade. She is responsible for feeding the fish and putting up the new numbers when we are counting the days to 100. She is extremely helpful with the library bulletin boards and hallway displays. She starts my morning with a bit of "sunshine everyday!"
Ava is a STAR Musketeer in every way!
