ACADEMIC CLUBS
Academic Challenge Team
The Academic Quiz Team is a team of MHS students who compete against teams from other high schools to correctly answer academic questions on history, mathematics, sciences and literature. The team competes in the Greater Western Ohio Conference. Matches are held after school in the winter culminating in a league tournament in early March. The team is coached by Amy Rives.

Ohio Mock Trial
The Ohio Mock Trial program is a statewide educational program designed to teach high school students about their constitutional rights and responsibilities. The Mock Trial competition is an academic tournament in which students must argue both sides of a case successfully in order to advance in the competition. National Honor Society
National Honor Society is open to Juniors and Seniors who have earned a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 and who are committed to service and leadership activities. Applications are required, and membership is subject to approval by faculty members. For additional information, please contact Nancy Hamilton or Rachael Judge.
Destination Imagination
Destination Imagination is a problem solving team, which competes locally and at the state and national level. Students solve a long-term problem with creative strategies, and the solution is presented to a judging panel at competition. SPECIAL INTEREST CLUBS
Human Relations Diversity Forum
Human Relations Diversity Forum is an organization which promotes an awareness of ethnic, racial and social issues. They perform charitable acts throughout the year. Good decision making processes are discussed at their meetings. For more information, contact please Monique Cherry-McDaniel.
International Club
International Club representing French, German and Spanish cultures are organized to gain experiences in the cultures of the languages which they represent. Students enjoy French, German and Spanish dinners, customs and events. For more information, please contact Bethany Kramer.
Ski Club
During the winter season students in Ski Club travel to area ski slopes to enjoy this winter sport. Parental permission is required. For more information, please contact Linda Giffen.
Spirit Club
The Miamisburg High School Spirit Club promotes Viking spirit, camaraderie and sportsmanship with pep assemblies, banners and attendance at school activities. Open to all students. For more information, please contact Steven May.
Chess Club
Chess Club meets regularly so that students may learn the game of Chess and challenge each other's chess skills. It is anticipated that this could eventually become a school Chess Team. For more information, please contact Wayne King.
FINE ARTS CLUBS
Art Club
Students are invited to come when they can and draw for all or part of the classtime. Students may choose what they wish to draw. The class will meet every Thursday from 2:15 p.m. until 4:30 in room 307. Help and advice is available from teacher Sara Green.
Blue and White (Newspaper)
Blue and White (Newspaper) is taught as a class, and is responsible for producing the school newspaper on a regular basis. For more information, please contact Jennifer Houtz-Gillman.
Mirus Yearbook
Mirus Yearbook is taught with the objective of producing and marketing the yearbook. Students learn basic photography, layout and design, and advertising techniques. For more information, please contact Jennifer Houtz-Gillman.
Muse Machine
Muse Machine is a group which travels to plays, ballets and other cultural events. The mission of this group is to promote an appreciation of fine arts. For more information, please contact Lisa White.
Marching Band, Concert Band, Jazz Band & Pep Band
Miamisburg High school offers a full range of instrumental music opportunities including Marching Band, Concert Band, Jazz Band and Pep Band. Participants in the Marching Band participate in local, regional and national contests. Students also have the opportunity to compete in the Ohio Music Education Association Solo and Ensemble Contest. The Miamisburg Bands are led by Director Steve Aylward.
Show Choir, Madrigal Singers, Triple Trio & Men's Ensemble
Show Choir and Madrigal Singers and are vocal performance groups open to anyone with an interest in vocal music. These groups perform at concerts, community events and contests sanctioned by the Ohio Music Education Association. Admission is by audition only. These groups are led by Lee Ann Kinner.
Video Club
In Video Club, members tape, direct and perform programming for weekly broadcasts, as well as write, tape and edit a video yearbook. The video club plans a variety of social activities centering around movies and broadcasting. Club membership is open to every MHS student. For more information, please contact Tim Fries.
1860 Belvo
1860 Belvo (Weekly TV News) is a 30-minute newscast about MHS produced by students in the Digital Design Tech Prep class. To be in Interactive Media students must have taken Introduction to TV. For more information, please contact Tim Fries.
Color Guard
Color Guard is the fall flag corp that performs with the marching band. Performance at football games is their primary focus. Winter Guard performs routines as entertainment and competes locally and in state and national competitions. The Guard is selective and tryouts are in the spring. S.A.D.D. (Students Against Driving Drunk) is committed to principles which support safety and concern for others while having the responsibility of operating a vehicle. For more information, please contact School Resource Officer Ryan Copsey.

Viking PRIDE is a student organization whose purpose is to heighten awareness about substance abuse and develop strategies to discourage the use of drugs. For more information, please contact School Resource Officer Ryan Copsey.

Student Government members are elected by the students. Elections are held in May. Student government is responsible for planning and implementing activities involving the entire student body. Student government also represents all students at MHS, working with administration and faculty in various decision-making activities. Junior Statesmen of America is a debate/discussion group that meets regularly to review how the government works. Weekend activities are involved. For more information, please contact Kathleen Lucas.
Office, Library, Audio Visual and Guidance Workers
Office workers, Library workers, Audio Visual workers and Guidance workers are responsible for running errands, delivering equipment and distributing messages. Teacher Aides assist teachers with tasks outside the classroom such as filing, preparing materials and running errands.
