MHS Scholarship Opportunities
Senior students have the opportunity to compete for over $34,000 in local scholarships during the spring of their senior year. These scholarships are made possible through donations from benefactors from Miamisburg and the Dayton Area, as well as the Miamisburg Schools Education Foundation and the Dayton Foundation. All senior students will be given a packet of information on the scholarships available during senior meetings. If you have any questions on a specific scholarship, please contact your child’s counselor.

MHS LOCAL SCHOLARSHIPS
Review the local scholarships offered below to see if you meet the criteria to apply. Click on the scholarship link to print and/or complete the application. Read the Scholarship Criteria and the Application Process carefully to make sure you have completed everything required, print 2 copies and turn them in by March 7, 2013 along with your transcript to the MHS Guidance Office.

American Legion - Post 165 Award A scholarship for a MHS senior pursuing a career in political science, social studies education, public service, or administration. Must have a seven semester GPA of at least 2.5.

Billy Stevens-Big Brother Memorial Award This scholarship will be awarded to a MHS football player. Special consideration will be given to students that are living in a “single parent” household, foster home, adopted, or someone that lives with grandparents. Must be accepted by a post-secondary institution. |
A scholarship will be awarded to a MHS graduating senior majoring in Graphic Design, Journalism, or any art field.

Epsilon Nu Chapter-Sigma Phi Gamma
A scholarship will be awarded to a graduating MHS senior planning to attend college or technical school, cosmetology, business or art school. Must have a GPA of 3.0 or better. |
Heidelberg University/Hieronymus Annual Scholarship A scholarship will be given to a student graduating from MHS and has been accepted and will be attending Heidelberg University. Recipient must maintain a 2.5 or better GPA and provide proof of financial need with SAR. |
A scholarship will be presented in memory of Jeff Cash (former student at MHS) to a MHS senior who has had 4 terms of high school college-prep math and a 2.5 average or above in math courses. The student must be majoring in math education or a math field. |

Kingdom Community Foundation A scholarship will be awarded to one male & one female MHS athlete, participating in any sport. Students must demonstrate leadership, good citizenship and good moral character both on & off the playing field. Qualities of hard work and coachability will be major factors in determining recipients. |
A scholarship will be awarded to a MHS senior planning to attend a 4-year college. Must demonstrate academic achievement, community/school involvement, and financial need.

Merle Williams Memorial/Lions Club Award A scholarship will be awarded in memory of Merle Williams to a MHS senior majoring in music. Recipient must be involved in community service or active in a church. Minimum GPA of 2.5. Applicants must have been involved in the music program at MHS a minimum of 2 years and have a letter of recommendation from someone in the high school music program. Must provide a letter of acceptance from a college. |

Miamisburg Civic Youth Baseball/Softball Association Award – These scholarships are sponsored by MCYBSA. Each applicant must be accepted at a school of higher learning and have a GPA of 2.5 or higher. Students must have played four years (excluding ragball) in the MCYBSA. |
Miamisburg Classroom Teacher Association A scholarship will be given to a MHS senior in the upper 25% of their class, demonstrates financial need, and has a teacher recommendation. Preference will be given to students entering the field of education. |
Miamisburg High School Swimming & Diving Scholarship Scholarships will be given to one female and one male graduating senior accepted at a college or university with a minimum GPA of 2.50. Applicant must be a member of the MHS Swimming & Diving Team in good standing for at least 2 years. Applicant will exhibit leadership qualities, character, pride, hard work and drive for success. |

Miamisburg Rotary / H.V. Bear Memorial Award
A scholarship will be awarded to a graduating MHS senior accepted by a college with a minimum GPA of 2.50. Applicant must be a Rotary Interact Club member in good standing. Must be involved in school and/or community service. |
Miamisburg Rotary / Glenn C. Brandon Memorial Award A scholarship will be awarded to a graduating MHS senior accepted by a college with a minimum GPA of 2.50. Applicant must be a Rotary Interact Club member in good standing. Must be involved in school and/or community service. |
This scholarship will be awarded to a MHS student that has participated in Wee Vikes. Applications must include an essay on how participation in this program has helped you.

Michelle McKinney Memorial-Future Medical Careers Award
A scholarship will be presented to a MHS senior who will pursue a medical career. |
Scholarships will be awarded to deserving students who are members of MHS National Honor Society in good standing. Leadership and academics will be a consideration. |
One male and one female will be selected. Applicants must participate in track or cross country.

Lisette Lorenzen Jackson Memorial Award Class of 1977 A scholarship will be awarded to a graduating MHS senior planning to attend a two- or four-year college or university. Should have a GPA of 1.8 to 2.8. Preference will be given to students with a disability.

MHS Boys' Soccer Booster Award Graduating MHS senior accepted to a two- or four-year post-secondary institution; member of boys' soccer program for at least two years; minimum 2.5 GPA through second quarter of senior year; demonstrates the five core values established for all boys' soccer participants. |
